It's About Ability: The Learning Guide on the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
This learning guide, to be distributed to all country offices in early autumn, was designed to empower children and young people aged 12-18 to speak out on the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and to become advocates for inclusion in their communities.Children and young people are effective communicators with the ability to change harmful practices and address negative attitudes. Children with disabilities, for example, are powerful self-advocates and play a key role in shaping societal views on disability.
The learning guide is a companion resource to It's About Ability: An
explanation of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities,
developed by UNICEF and the Victor Pineda Foundation and is comprised of
several modules, each of which consists of a series of lesson plans and
suggested activities. It is to be used by young leaders, peer educators,
teachers and other educators at community-level to facilitate learning
among young people about the Convention, and how it applies to children.
An electronic copy of the learning guide can be found on our AWE library.
